The course is designed to familiarise divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and fun of search and recovery diving. This course is intended to serve as a safe and supervised introduction to search and recovery diving.

The aims and goals of this course are to develop practical knowledge, enable the planning and organise of search and recovery dives.

During this course the following topics will be covered:

• The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, and hazards of search and recovery diving
• Limited-visibility diving and underwater navigation techniques
• Proper techniques and safety considerations for object location, including the use of various search patterns, lines and reels
• Proper techniques and safety considerations for recovery of objects using various lifting devices

The recommended course duration is 24 hours with four dives over a period of two days (two dives per day).

Prerequisite for Certification

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, Junior Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent OR PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver with a PADI Underwater Navigator Speciality Diver certification or equivalent and be over 12 years old.
