At
22 metres depth, close to the northern cliff face, lies a Wessex helicopter.
At the time of being sunk in these waters, the helicopter had only flown
some for some 650 hours, and as such was in remarkable condition. Not
so now ...
The Wessex is now missing many parts and has huge holes in it. In short, it's been ravaged by 'trophy-hunters' and is little more than a helicopter-like shape. Even so, it is quite an experience for first-time visitors to encounter the helicopter, to sit on the tail rotor or swim around the wheel struts.
